"Memantap ukhuwwah memperkasa ummah"

This morning I was really enthusiastic to watch "Sambutan Maulidur Rasul 1431H/2010M" for national level live from Putra Mosque, Putrajaya via TV1 online through a software I used to watch tv online. Now I know who are the respected people awarded as 'Tokoh Maulidur Rasul 1431H' for this year. It was really pleased to know that Sr. Nik Nur Madihah is one of the people being honored with that great award. She's now furthering her study in Jordan as being mentioned in the event.

For this special day - 12 Rabi'ul Awwal, I hope all Muslims including me can always practice and preach salawat to our Prophet Muhammad S.A.W (peace be upon him) and get the chance to learn the seerah of our prophet's life to evoke his strive to bring Islam to triumph. Let's also have the effort to practice his sunnah in our daily lives to show our great feeling of love to him. Hereby, let's inculcate the feeling in our hearts by looking at this lyric (Sami Yusuf - Al Muallim)..

We once had a Teacher
The Teacher of teachers,
He changed the world for the better
And made us better creatures,
O Allah we’ve shamed ourselves
We’ve strayed from Al-Mu'allim,
Surely we’ve wronged ourselves
What will we say in front him?
O Mu'allim...

Chorus
He was Muhammad salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam,
Muhammad, mercy upon Mankind,
He was Muhammad salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam,
Muhammad, mercy upon Mankind,
Teacher of all Mankind.
Abal Qasim [one of the names of the Prophet]
Ya Habibi ya Muhammad
(My beloved O Muhammad)
Ya Shafi'i ya Muhammad
(My intercessor O Muhammad)
Khayru khalqillahi Muhammad
(The best of Allah’s creation is Muhammad)
Ya Mustafa ya Imamal Mursalina
(O Chosen One, O Imam of the Messengers)
Ya Mustafa ya Shafi'al 'Alamina
(O Chosen One, O intercessor of the worlds)
He prayed while others slept
While others ate he’d fast,
While they would laugh he wept
Until he breathed his last,
His only wish was for us to be
Among the ones who prosper,
Ya Mu'allim peace be upon you,
Truly you are our Teacher,
O Mu'allim..

Chorus
Ya Habibi ya Muhammad
(My beloved O Muhammad)
Ya Shafi'i ya Muhammad
(My intercessor O Muhammad)
Ya Rasuli ya Muhammad
(O My Messenger O Muhammad)
Ya Bashiri ya Muhammad
(O bearer of good news O Muhammad)
Ya Nadhiri ya Muhammad
(O warner O Muhammad)
'Ishqu Qalbi ya Muhammad
(The love of my heart O Muhammad)
Nuru 'Ayni ya Muhammad
(Light of my eye O Muhammad)
He taught us to be just and kind
And to feed the poor and hungry,
Help the wayfarer and the orphan child
And to not be cruel and miserly,
His speech was soft and gentle,
Like a mother stroking her child,
His mercy and compassion,
Were most radiant when he smiled

Chorus
Abal Qasim [one of the names of the Prophet]
Ya Habibi ya Muhammad
(My beloved O Muhammad)
Ya Shafi'i ya Muhammad
(My intercessor O Muhammad)
Khayru khalqillahi Muhammad
(The best of Allah’s creation is Muhammad)
Ya Mustafa Ya Imamal Mursalina
(O Chosen One O Imam of the Messengers)
Ya Mustafa ya Shafi'al 'Alamina
(O Chosen One O intercessor of the worlds)

Blood Donation

Recently, I got a chance to experience donating blood in Blood Donation campaign held in conjunction with Mahabbah's Week in IIUM, Kuantan Campus. The one-day event (17th Feb 2010) took place in lobby KOM which targeted for about 80 to 100 donors to donate their blood. This event was organized by Hospital Temerloh staffs. It was actually my first time experience as I am quite afraid with injections, to be frank. However, after undergoing that thing then I realized it was not too painful though I've experienced dizziness. Below are some information that I get related to the blood donation.

Firstly, the donor's blood type must be determined if the blood will be used for transfusions. The collecting agency usually identifies whether the blood is type A, B, AB or O. More testing, including a crossmatch, is usually done before a transfusion. Group O is often cited as the "universal donor" but this only refers to red cell transfusions. For plasma transfusions the system is reversed and AB is the universal donor type.

Most blood is tested for diseases, including some STDs. The tests used are high-sensitivity screening test and no actual diagnosis is made. Some of the test results are later found to be false positives using more specific testing. False negatives are rare, but donors are discouraged from using blood donation for the purpose of anonymous STD screening because a false negative could mean a contaminated unit. The blood is usually discarded if these tests are positive, but there are some exceptions, such as autologous donations. The donor is generally notified of the test result.

There are two main methods of obtaining blood from a donor. The most frequent is simply to take the blood from a vein as whole blood. This blood is typically separated into parts, usually red blood cells and plasma, since most recipients need only a specific component for transfusions. The other method is to draw blood from the donor, separate it using a centrifuge or a filter, store the desired part, and return the rest to the donor. This process is called apheresis, and it is often done with a machine specifically designed for this purpose.

For direct transfusion a vein can be used but the blood may be taken from an artery instead. In this case, the blood is not stored and is pumped directly from the donor into the recipient. This was an early method for blood transfusion and is rarely used in modern practice.

For complication, donors are screened for health problems that would put them at risk for serious complications from donating. First-time donors, teenagers, and women are at a higher risk of a reaction. Hypovolemic reaction can occur because of a rapid change in blood pressure. Fainting is generally the worst problem encountered.

The process has similar risks to other forms of phlebotomy. Bruising of the arm from the needle insertion is the most common concern. One study found that less than 1% of donors had this problem. A number of less common complications of blood donation are known to occur. These include arterial puncture, delayed bleeding, nerve irritation, nerve injury, tendon injury, thrombophlebitis, and allergic reactions.

Malam Tautan Kasih 2010

As being planned very2 well by our batch leader, Assyafiq Naziruddin, and his committee, this event took place in our great Kulliyyah of Pharmacy building. This program or night runs on 9th February 2010 (Tuesday) after Maghrib. It aims to strengthen ukhuwwah between us (rx8 iium family) and to always ponder what we've been through in our lives before ~Gagasan Kasih Sayang: Membina Personaliti Kendiri~. The slots were arranged from the open discussion to the muhasabah part before we proceeded to our grand dinner. This annual program is hoped to inculcate the sense of togetherness and avoid any misunderstandings that we might have faced throughout our days in this university. There were also some dressing color themes (black, blue and red) set for this program and it seemed that most of us followed that theme! Hopefully we can get something from that splendid night to capture great moments in next 3 years being part of this undergraduate program.

EXPERIENCING TAMAN GELORA

After fighting in critical time in current midsem examinations, let's have some time to discover more places in Kuantan.. If before this we'd been in some other places or beaches like Telok Chempedak, Cherating and Pantai Balok, this time we experienced some activities conducted in Taman Gelora, one of the sea shores located near to TC.

I've just been there for another program conducted by IPhA called IPhA Induction Course 09/10 session dated 6th February 2010 (Saturday). As IPhA Management Board became the committee of this program, so i did get involved especially in technical part of this program. This program which had been participated by quite a number of students representing their bureaus in IPhA was very relaxed without any 'boring' talks. The program was divided into two sessions; morning session and afternoon session. We did let the participants to enjoy themselves by some activities in groups to develop their softskills and critical thinking.

The beach is such a serene place to relax our minds. It really suited the environment we desired to possibly and smoothly run the program. Hopefully every objectives and goals would be achieved through the commitment showed and given during tasks.
